Newtown Rugby Club’s senior team is looking to the future and progressing next season.

New first team head coaches Neil Farrington and Iain Lewis are excited to get started as they make their preparations for next season.

Pre-season training will begin on July 13th at 7.15pm with all new, former and returning players welcome ahead of the new Admiral National League Two season.

The club is also excited to announce the running of a second team, also known as the ‘The Green Army” spearheaded by Jac Beynon-Thomas and Twm Jones.

Club chairman James Holloway was looking forward to the season, saying: “We are looking forward to taking the club in a new direction. The focus will be on player development and increasing the player base across all our teams.”

“I am very fortunate to have excellent junior and senior coaches to work with and the appointment of new head coaches for our first team and The Green Army has brought a lot of energy to the club.”

Meanwhile president Dai Davies said the club was now well placed for a successful future.

He said: “We are looking forward to an exciting future. The club has now put a structure in place to make the most of the huge amount of talent we have here at Newtown Rugby Club. We are now looking forward to the rugby starting.”

In addition to the new senior team structure, the club also has a thriving ladies section along with a mixed ability/inclusive rugby side called Newtown Dragons.

The club annual meeting is scheduled to take place on the July 31st at 7pm in the clubhouse.
