NEWTOWN Ladies Rugby Club held their annual awards night at the club’s Recreation Ground clubhouse earlier in the summer.

There were two main awards on the night, the Most Improved Player and Player of the Year.

The Most Improved Player award went to Carys Breeze and was presented by team sponsor Mark Binding of BTS Tyres.

The Player of the Year prize was awarded to Aoife Houghton and was presented by team sponsor Ben Beddoes of Dairy Dreams.

There were also awards for best attendance, awarded to Alys Phillips and a special achievement award to Sarah Parry in recognition of her being selected to join the England under 18s camp.

There was a large attendance of players, families, coaches, sponsors and supporters who all enjoyed the evening.

Club spokesman Darren Bloor said: “If you are Year 7 and above and would like to join Newtown Ladies, training takes place on Thursday evenings at Calon Y Dderwen Primary School. You can also message us via our various social media platforms.”
