STARS of the past, present and future descended on Newtown Rugby Club for the end of season awards earlier this month.

The club has endured a frustrating few years on the pitch with competitive rugby yet to return to the community game after more than two years of lockdown frustrations.

Last season was contested without a set fixture list and no promotion and relegation which proved to be underwhelming for players and fans.

Derek Murray and Tony Dingley were both inducted to the club hall of fame in recognition of their long service to rugby in Newtown.
