NEWTOWN Whitestars is a famous name in mid Wales football history.
The club was born at the town’s Greyhound Inn, the site of Iceland on the High Street, in 1873, by Edward Gittins.
While the famous 1879 Welsh Cup winning club folded not long after their most famous glory its legacy lives on.
Since 2005 the Whitestars name has lived on as the junior section of JD Cymru Premier side Newtown.
