NEWTOWN chairman Howard Ellis has questioned the Welsh Government decision to ban supporters from sports fixtures.
The Welsh Government controversially imposed the measures late last night following a surge in coronavirus cases across the United Kingdom.
The rules come into place from Boxing Day.
The new rules mean Welsh football fans will be unable to watch their clubs for an unspecified amount of time regardless of vaccination status.
Mr Ellis said the Welsh Government should have followed the lead of English Football League (EFL) clubs which permit vaccinated supporters into grounds via Covid passports.
He said: "I am very disappointed to hear this decision from the Welsh Government.
"It has come very late and I feel for the supporters and match day sponsors who always look forward to this seasonal fixture.
"I feel the least they could have done was follow the English leagues where confirmation of vaccine jabs and passports are enough to carry on."
Meanwhile the Football Association of Wales (FAW) confirmed it was aware of the new restrictions.
A statement read: "The FAW will now consult with affected clubs, the National League Board and broadcast partners, and will release a further statement in due course."
