LLANIDLOES Town manager Chris Davies praised his players after completing a cup double on Saturday.

A Connor Bird double earned the Daffodils a 2-0 win over Brecon Corries in Saturday’s Central Wales Cup final to join the General Tyres Montgomeryshire Cup won earlier in the month.

Davies said: “It’s a been a long season, with Saturdays final being exactly a year to the day since we started pre season. Saturdays game was a tough one but we felt we thoroughly deserved the win and it was a great way to end the season.

“We met our objective by staying in the Cymru North which is a good achievement for a newly promoted team. Then to do the cup double and to bring two trophies that haven’t been won by a Llani side for decades was huge for the club.

“Our reserves won their league in style too so we’ve got three trophies to be proud of and to fill up at our awards evening.

“I’d personally like to thank everyone who’s contributed this year, in any capacity.

“It’s been long and we’ve had some ups and downs but in the end we really kicked on in the new year and finished in style.”
