RHYS Evans is looking forward to 2022 after underlining his prowess in the saddle over the last two years.

The eight-year-old Llanidloes Primary School pupil from Bwlch-y-sarnau has been riding motorbikes since he was aged six - even before he started riding bicycles.

For the past two years he has competed in enduro and motocross events - competing in three championships and finishing in the top three in all of them.

Rhys won his enduro championship with WOR Events run by Steve Ireland which he has thoroughly enjoyed and loved the challenge of racing for one solid hour.

He competed in his first Motorcross Lucas Oil Kids R Us Championship and finished in second place overall and also competed in the Welsh open youth hare and hounds enduro and also finished in second place.

He is now moving up a level and ready to put in a hard winter training and compete throughout winter.

Rhys trains at home on the family farm and also trains at the fantastic Saintswells motocross and enduro centre owned by Adam Rees and family.

He has trained with professional coach Mark Jones and motorcross/Enduro coach Carl Jones.

Proud mum Angharad said: "He really enjoys riding his bike, whether racing on the track or practicing.

"He has made so many friends throughout the season. We as a family are very proud of his hard work and dedication.

"Rhys does not like to be pressured or told and it just shows the natural talent he has on his bike from performing himself. We are very excited for what 2022 will bring."
