LLANIDLOES Town will begin a new era with the visit of Gresford Athletic in the first round of the Nathaniel MG Cup on Saturday.

The Daffodils have waited to make a return to action since winning the Mid Wales League in last season's cancelled campaign.

Hugh Clarke has departed Victoria Avenue with ex-Carno manager Chris Davies joining the Daffodils' coaching team.

Davies said: "We are really looking forward to getting back to competitive football after 16 months off.

"Obviously everyone associated with the club is raring to go and finally get the season going and there’s no better way to start with a good cup tie.

"Naturally there are some hurdles and inconveniences we’ll have to deal with but we’ve just got to get on with it for the time being.

"We know Gresford will be tough opposition and we’re all aware of the quality the possess but we’ve had a good pre season and we’re hoping to start the season off on a positive note on Saturday."

Llanidloes have bolstered with the arrival of forward Andy Evans from Berriew while defender Daniel Lewis has joined from Caersws with midfielder Lance Jones also making the switch from Penrhyncoch.

Defender Phil Jones has left the club to join Berriew.
