A POWYS football club has launched an internal investigation following an alleged racist incident during an Ardal North East League clash today.

Llanfair United Football Club confirmed an investigation was underway after Bow Street Football Club alleged a racist incident had taken place following their 3-0 win at Mount Field on Saturday.

Bow Street Football Club posted on X (formerly Twitter), "We are devastated to report a racist incident at the end of today’s game.

"We pride ourselves with being an inclusive club, and will simply not tolerate racism. We will be working with the Football Association of Wales and our friends at Llanfair United Football Club in the days ahead."

Llanfair United Football Club confirmed an internal enquiry would now take place and re-iterated their stance against racism.

The statement read: "We are aware of a racist allegation made against one of our players during the match versus Bow Street.

"We take the allegation seriously and will carry out an internal enquiry. "We do not condone racist behaviour and confirm our commitment to racism having no place in football."
