PRESTEIGNE St Andrews bid to cause a shock against Builth Wells Reserves when the sides meet in Hay-on-Wye on Monday.

The east Radnorshire side have endured a turbulent season which began with their resignation from the Mid Wales League.

However the club have consolidated in the Mid Wales League South and will bid to cause a shock in the final of the Pip Samuel Mid Wales League South Cup at Forest Road on Monday,

Manager John Haycox said: "It’s going to be a great day for the club an the town of Presteigne, there’s a great buzz around the place.

"It’s been a tough year for us rebuilding an with so many young lads in the squad we are heading in the right direction so to get to a final in our first season together is a massive achievement and now we have to go an put on a performance against the best team in the league.

"I’ve seen Builth and have respect for the way they play so it’s going to be tough but I believe in this group and hopefully it all comes together on Monday afternoon."

Meanwhile Builth Wells Reserves manager Shane Claridge was also savouring the match

"The boys looking forward to the game, especially after not playing for a month," said Claridge.

"We have had a great season so far and are looking to finish the season strongly with hopefully some silverware.

"We are looking forward to playing them and even though we haven't played them this season we are expecting a tough game.

"Overall we are looking forward towards the final and hoping to play some good football while expecting a good competitive game and, with a bit of luck, we can lift the trophy."
