THE Greatest Showman came to Ellesmere to raise vital funds for Age UK.

The latest fundraising event, 'This is the Greatest Show' took place on Friday, May 17 and was organised by Age UK North Shropshire Supporters Group with the aim of raising money to support local older people.

Ellesmere College hosted the all-singing, all-dancing event which included tunes from the musical The Greatest Showman.

There was also the chance to win prizes and enter a costume competition.

During the half-time break, chairman of Age UK North Shropshire Supporters, Anne Wignall and Mark Spurdens, treasurer, handed over a cheque to Heather Osborne – chief executive of Age UK Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin – for £4,000 which had been raised through various events last year.

Anne Wignall, said: “The event was a huge success and we thank everyone for coming and supporting us.

"It’s really rewarding for the group to organise these events and know the money raised goes back into our local community.”

There are currently two local supporters groups nearby – North Shropshire and Shrewsbury.

If you are a sociable person who would like to meet new friends you may be interested in supporting Age UK Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, by organising an event or setting up a supporters group.
