During the weeks since the coronavirus erupted in the UK, everybody in society has had to adapt their behaviour and routines, write County Times editor Thom Kennedy.

Most people will suddenly find themselves housebound, with no certainty about when they will next be allowed to go out to the pub, or to play sport, or to visit the cinema.

Our working lives have changed immeasurably as well, and that’s as true for the County Times as it is for anybody else.

You’ll probably notice a few changes in the paper this week – our sport section, for example, is heavily abridged, as is our leisure section. Naturally, that’s because sport is in hiatus, and our theatres and cinemas are locked down.

We’re also carrying some extra things, like an eight-page puzzles supplement – we thought it might be something you’d enjoy given that you are most likely spending quite a bit of time cooped up at home at present.

In the coming weeks we’ll be looking at other things which we hope you’ll enjoy during our collective period of isolation, including some delves into the archives to look at great stories from Mid Wales history.

But one thing that remains intact is our commitment to provide our readers with a reliable source of information during this outbreak. We’re very much planning to keep being a vital source of information during what is a trying and uncertain period for all of us, and that includes by providing positive stories about all the good that is being done in our community.

We are adhering to the Government’s advice about social distancing, and would encourage you all to do the same to ensure that people emerge from this unprecedented crisis with their lives intact.

Everything will look different during this current crisis, but we are here for you, to keep you informed and entertained.

Finally, we would once again urge you all to look after yourselves and one another to get through this.
