ENGLAND'S women took a commanding 2-0 lead in their one-day international series against Australia with a 55-run win at Chelmsford.

The World Twenty20 champions continued their dominance over Jodie Fields' side with a convincing display underpinned by Sarah Taylor's run-a-ball 120.

Taylor's fine century helped England to 259 for six in their 50 overs despite losing opener Caroline Atkins for an early duck.

Claire Taylor weighed in 42 runs of her own, while Beth Morgan collected 41.

The home bowlers then matched the batsmen's efforts, with Laura Marsh picking up three for 33 in 10 overs, while Nicky Shaw returned three for 39 as Australia capitulated for 204.

Only Shelley Nitschke (47) and Lisa Sthalekar (43) really got going for the tourists, whose innings ended 6.2 overs early.

The third match in the series takes place at Stratford-upon-Avon on Friday.
