Llanidloes memories captured in photographs from 2010

The year saw local businesses, schools, sports clubs and community groups all making their mark. Residents gathered to celebrate achievements on the field, in the classroom and on the stage, while local events brought people together throughout the year.

Young performers also stepped into the spotlight when the Active Young People Team presented a Celebration of Dance at Theatre Hafren in Newtown.

Representing Llanidloes High School, pupils took part in the showcase, demonstrating the strong links between the town's schools and wider cultural events across Montgomeryshire.

Sport featured heavily throughout the year. Llanidloes Town enjoyed a memorable triumph in the Tanners Town Cup Final, defeating Montgomery Town 1-0 after extra time.

The winning side was pictured celebrating with captain Colin Reynolds, providing one of the year's standout football moments.

Rugby supporters also had reason to celebrate when Llanidloes Seconds reached the Mid Wales District Rugby Union Shield Final against Newtown Seconds, while the town's women's football team earned recognition with a dedicated team photograph.

At Llanidloes High School, sporting achievements extended beyond team games. Emily Baldwin and Rosie Unwin represented Powys at the National Finals in the junior girls' combined events, reflecting the strength of athletics within the school.

Environmental success was recognised through a Green Flag Award, with pupils Laura Drew, Jordan Davies, Lauren Fenn, Rhys Woosnam, Connor Davies and James Sinclair pictured alongside headteacher Darren Davies.

Elsewhere, colourful fancy dress events added a sense of fun to community life, while the Llanidloes High School Eisteddfod celebrated pupil achievement and creativity.
