One of Montgomeryshire's biggest annual rural events is set to return next month as Llanfair Caereinion Show prepares to welcome competitors, exhibitors, and visitors from across Mid Wales.
The show will be held at Llysun, Llanerfyl, on Saturday, September 5, and will feature livestock competitions, horse show, speed shearing, dog show, horticulture, crafts, cookery and a packed programme of family entertainment.
This year's show president, Gill Kightley, said it had been a privilege to serve in the role and continue her family's long association with the event.
"It has been a great honour to have been asked to be this year's president," she said.
"It has been a very busy two years since I was elected as president."
During her presidency, Mrs Kightley has raised money for causes close to her heart, including £2,000 for Severn Hospice, £1,550 for the show itself, and £800 for Lingen Davies Cancer Fund.
Another fundraising event, an autumn fashion show with Daisy Blue Llanfyllin, is also planned.
Family connection stretching back decades
Mrs Kightley said her involvement with the show was inspired by her parents, who both dedicated many years to supporting the event.
"Both my parents were involved with the show since I was young," she said.
"Dad was on the sheep section and Mam was on the arts and craft committee.
"Dad sold membership badges for years for the Dyffryn Banwy area until he passed away in 2009.
"My mother took over the job of selling the badges and enjoyed entertaining them with tea and scones.
"She continued until she went ill in 2017.
"I'm still selling the show badges until this day."
She added: "The show committee asked my father several times if he would like to be the president.
"But unfortunately, he didn't feel he had the confidence to take it on.
"I felt it was my duty to be the president on their behalf."
Attractions for all ages
This year's event will include horse and sheep competitions, a rural business marquee, vintage machinery displays, clay pigeon shooting, and speed shearing.
Main ring attractions include a BMX show, birds of prey demonstrations, and tug of war competitions, while visitors can also enjoy a dog show, children's entertainment, musical performances, and food and drink throughout the day.
Organisers are encouraging people to take advantage of discounted advance tickets, available online until August 31.
Adult tickets cost £10 in advance or £12 on the gate, while family tickets cost £28 for two adults and up to three children.
Parking is free.
The show's sheepdog trials were due to take place earlier this week (Tuesday and Wednesday) but were postponed because of the hot weather.
Mrs Kightley thanked everyone who has supported the show and her fundraising efforts.
"I wish to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped or donated in any way to make both events such a great success," she said.
"Looking forward to seeing you all at the show on September 5."
