Newtown passengers affected by TfW delays and disruption

Passengers travelling between Machynlleth and Shrewsbury are facing delays and cancellations after a bridge was damaged on Thursday (July 23).

Transport for Wales said services running between the two stations could be delayed by up to 30 minutes, while some trains may be cancelled in both directions.

The disruption is expected to last until 3pm, although passengers have been warned that knock-on delays could continue until around 5pm.

Railway stations between the two towns include Caersws, Newtown and Welshpool.

In an update, Transport for Wales said: "Due to a bridge being damaged between Machynlleth and Shrewsbury, services may be delayed by up to 30 minutes.

"Services may be cancelled in both directions between Machynlleth and Shrewsbury."

The rail operator has apologised to passengers affected by the disruption and urged customers to check before travelling.

Passengers whose journey is delayed by more than 15 minutes may be eligible to claim compensation through the Delay Repay scheme.
