Firefighters were rushed to Potters Recycling Centre in Welshpool after an area with 30 tonnes of waste caught fire.
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that crews from three stations were called out in the early hours of the morning.
A tower of smoke was seen from across the town at around 6am today (July 20).
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that when crews arrived at the scene, they found a fire in two “external storage bays”.

A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 5.17am on Monday, July 20, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Welshpool, Montgomery and Llanfair Caereinion Fire Station were called to an incident Severn Road, Welshpool.
“Crews responded to a waste fire that was contained to two external storage bays with approximately 30 tonnes of mixed household waste.
“The crews utilised two 70mm and two 45mm main jets, one ground monitor and four hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.”
