Drivers are being warned to expect delays on the A458 between Welshpool and Foel as essential road maintenance works continue this week.
Traffic Wales said a convoy traffic management system is currently in place while surface dressing works are carried out along the route.
In an update issued on Monday, July 13, Traffic Wales said: "Surface dressing works are currently being undertaken along the A458 between Welshpool and Foel as part of essential highway maintenance.
"To ensure the works can be carried out safely, a convoy traffic management system is in operation.
"Please expect delays while these works are taking place and allow extra time for your journey."
The contractor is expected to begin sweeping the road on Wednesday (July 15) ahead of the second phase of the surface dressing programme.
Traffic Wales said the next application of surface dressing is scheduled to take place between Thursday (July 16) and Saturday (July 18), before road lining works are carried out the following Monday (July 20).
Traffic Wales apologised for the disruption but said the work is necessary to improve safety and extend the life of the road.
A spokesperson added: "We appreciate that these works may cause delays to your journey and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience.
"However, these are important maintenance works that are necessary to preserve the condition of the road, improve safety, and extend the lifespan of the carriageway.
"Thank you for your patience and understanding while these essential improvements are completed."
