An 83-year-old bus driver who has spent more than six decades behind the wheel has started his final shift, bringing one of Wales' longest and most remarkable transport careers to a close.
Colin Pryce retired on Tuesday, June 30, after an extraordinary 62 years in the bus industry, having driven generations of passengers across Mid Wales and helped train countless drivers throughout his career.
His final day on the road marks the end of an era for Lloyds Coaches, where he has worked for the past 25 years and become one of the company's most respected and recognisable figures.
Colin first climbed into the driver's seat in 1965 when he joined Crosville.
He later worked through the deregulation era with Crosville Wales, which became Arriva, and was based in Machynlleth while also working from depots in Abermule, Dolgellau and Aberystwyth.
Over the course of six decades, he not only transported passengers safely across the region but also played a key role in training the next generation of drivers.
Many aspiring bus drivers learned the trade under Colin's guidance, with some travelling as far as Chester to complete their driving tests.
His retirement has prompted an outpouring of appreciation from colleagues and passengers, many of whom have known him for decades.
In a tribute, Lloyds Coaches described Colin as the company's oldest and longest-serving driver and praised his dedication to serving local communities.
The company said: "For over six decades, Colin has safely navigated our roads, greeted generations of passengers with his trademark warmth and set the ultimate standard for dedication and professionalism.
"Thank you, Colin, for your unwavering dedication, your hard work and the countless miles and memories you've shared with us and your passengers.
"You are a true gentleman and an absolute legend.
"The roads quite simply won't be the same without you."
His career spans huge changes in the transport industry, from the days of Crosville in the 1960s through deregulation in the 1980s and into the modern era of public transport.
But throughout those changes, one thing remained constant - Colin's commitment to getting people where they needed to be.
Lloyds Coaches has invited passengers, former colleagues and members of the community to join them in thanking Colin for his service and wishing him a long and happy retirement.
After 62 years, countless miles and generations of passengers, one of Wales' most familiar bus drivers is finally hanging up the keys.
