Feats of strength, samba beats, and a surprise comedy comeback wowed the crowds at this year’s Llanfair Caereinion Carnival.
A colourful parade of floats, lively entertainment, and imaginative fancy dress delighted visitors of all ages, with hundreds gathering to enjoy the day.
The Carnival Committee praised the "incredible support" from the community and thanked everyone who attended, took part, volunteered, or contributed in any way to making the event a success on Saturday, June 20.
Carnival Chair Samantha Webster said: "It was fantastic to see so many people supporting the carnival once again.
"The atmosphere throughout the day was wonderful, and seeing families enjoying themselves made all the hard work worthwhile.
"I'd like to thank everyone who helped organise the event, our volunteers, who help in various ways, the Carnival certainly would not happen without them.
"We look forward to welcoming everyone back next year."
Carnival queen Mared Haf Ellis officially opened the event, welcoming visitors and taking to the stage with her attendants, who were presented with certificates to mark their contribution to the day’s celebrations.
Main ring entertainment began with a vibrant set from Samba Dyfi, whose colourful costumes and pulsing percussion brought a lively Brazilian rhythm to the afternoon.

Crowds clapped and danced along as the group filled the showground with infectious energy and booming samba beats.
A highlight of the afternoon was the first of two performances from Mighty Smith, the UK’s Strongest Man, who combined jaw-dropping feats of strength with humour and audience participation.
Volunteers from Llanfair Caereinion Young Farmers Club and members of the crowd joined in the challenge, adding laughter and friendly competition to the spectacle.
One of the day’s biggest surprises was the return of the Llanfair Grannies, making their first carnival appearance in around ten years.
Their comedy dance routine, full of audience interaction and old-school humour, earned one of the loudest cheers of the afternoon.
After the announcement of the float and fancy dress winners, Mighty Smith returned to the stage for a second performance.
The grand prize draw followed, with dozens of lucky winners taking home prizes donated by local businesses and organisations.
The carnival closed with an energetic set from Disco Daddy, who had families on their feet with music, dance routines, and crowd engagement.
In the fancy dress competition, creativity shone under the theme of nursery rhymes and riddles.
Winners included Gwion Ynyr as Humpty Dumpty in the four years and under category, Esyllt Dafydd as the Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe in the seven and under group, and Luke Owen as the Blind Mouse in the 11 and under category.
In the over 12 category, Nesta Meirion took first place with a Queen of Hearts costume, while adult winner Jemma Astley impressed as the Old Woman Who Swallowed a Fly.
The group category was won by Gracie and Lani for their 'Sesame Street' theme, which also earned them the Dylis Williams Cup for the overall winner.
In the float competition, the Red Lion took first place in the best adult float category, followed by the Black Lion in second, and Llanfair Caereinion Young Farmers Club in third.
The prize for most comical float went to the Black Lion.
Tiny T Birds claimed top spot in the best child float category, followed by Twin Ayres Country Park.
The best holiday park float was awarded to Twin Ayre Holiday Park.
The Carnival Committee extended thanks to all prize donors, volunteers, and supporters.
This included Andrew Watkin, HV Bowen, Red Lion, Melvin, Tommie and Louisa Jones, the Bunting Bunnies, marshals, Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, Llanfair Caereinion Town Council, and The Institute.
Planning is already underway for Llanfair Caereinion Carnival 2027.
