A Powys man has been convicted after beating two men and carrying wheel brace as an "offensive weapon".

Zuben Richards, 20 of Cradoc Road, Brecon pleaded guilty to two charges of assault by beating and carrying an offensive weapon in a public place.

In a hearing at Merthyr Tydfil Combined Court Centre on Friday (June 5) Richards admitted to beating two men in the Oakfield Park area on November 5 last year.

On the same date it was heard that Richards was seen in public carrying a wheel brace as an offensive weapon.

After pleading guilty to the charges, Richards was given a sentence of four weeks, which has been suspended for a year because it was noted by the court that there was a “prospect of rehabilitation”.

Richards was ordered to pay £100 in compensation and the wheel brace has been seized by the police.
