Llanfair Caereinion Carnival 2026 full event guide

The much-loved annual event will take place on Saturday, June 20, bringing the community together for a day full of colour and celebration.

Leading this year’s festivities will be Carnival Queen Mared Haf Ellis, who has been involved with the carnival from a young age and says she is proud to represent the community.

She will be supported by attendants Hedd Conlin, Jax Jones, Dion Roberts, Sid Andrew, Erin Watkin, Nellie Jones, Freya Jones and Glesni Williams.

One of the highlights of the day will be the arrival of the Carnival Queen and her attendants on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, adding a unique touch to the celebrations.

The traditional carnival procession will follow at 12.30pm, with colourful floats and fancy dress entries parading through the town before the event continues on Mount Field.

Visitors can expect a full afternoon of entertainment, including a special appearance from Mighty Smith, the UK’s strongest man, who will showcase his feats of strength. There will also be a surprise act, a magic show, balloon modelling and plenty of activities for children.

The carnival field will feature a range of attractions including hook-a-duck, tin can alley, a photo booth, inflatables, an obstacle course, a football dartboard and a human demolition inflatable.

There will also be community stalls, refreshments, a licensed bar and the grand carnival draw.

The day will conclude with the float and fancy dress results, with prizes awarded to the entries that help make the event such a colourful spectacle each year.

The carnival committee has thanked local businesses, organisations and individuals for donating prizes for the grand draw, as well as volunteers who have helped organise the event - including those who spent weeks creating bunting to decorate the town.
