Search the Public Notice PortalA luxury glamping resort near Caersws will continue operating “with no plans to change”, its owners have confirmed.
Love2Stay Mid Wales Glamping opened in 2022 following a £7.5 million redevelopment of the former Mid Wales Golf Centre site at Moat Lane, on the outskirts of the village near Newtown.
Its parent company, Salop Leisure, has recently submitted plans to Shropshire Council to redevelop its separate 22-acre Love2Stay site on the edge of Shrewsbury into an “older person’s village”.
The proposed scheme would include 118 homes alongside a range of community and care facilities.
Planning documents prepared by Berrys describe the vision for Salop Living as a “unique retirement scheme” designed to meet the needs of Shropshire’s ageing population.
It added that the plans respond to a “sustained decline in demand” for touring caravan use, alongside a growing need for specialist housing.
“The aim is to provide a graduation in care to occupiers, whilst allowing them to stay in the same surroundings, avoiding the need to relocate and therefore retaining independence and a sense of wellbeing, community and place,” the document continued.
Plans include a wide range of facilities, such as a café and treatment hub, medical services, salon, activity studio, gym, and function space.
Outdoor amenities would feature a hot springs pool, cold water pool, meditation gardens, yoga tent, padel courts, and landscaped communal areas. Proposals also include a bowls pavilion with bar and lounge, community allotments, nature trails and a dog grooming hut.
While the scheme could result in the loss of some seasonal tourism jobs, the applicant states it could create around 100 full-time equivalent roles, alongside longer-term investment in the local economy.
“Whilst the proposal shall result in a loss of some seasonal tourism jobs, it shall create more operational high-quality jobs amounting to around 100 full-time-equivalent jobs,” the application adds.
Despite the proposed changes in Shrewsbury, Salop Leisure has stressed that its Mid Wales site will not be affected.
Mike Harris, joint managing director at Salop Leisure, said: “I can confirm that Love2Stay Mid Wales will be continuing its current operation with no plans to change.”
