Two crashes on A458 Trewern near Welshpool injure 3 people

Two separate collisions which resulted in injuries, including to a police officer, happened within an hour of each other on one of Powys’ busiest roads over the weekend.

Emergency services were called to reports of two crashes along the A458 at Trewern, near Welshpool, on Saturday morning (April 4).

The first collision was reported at around 10.40am and involved three vehicles - a 4x4 and two private motor vehicles.

One person suffered injuries and received medical treatment from fire and rescue crews at the scene.

Firefighters from Welshpool, Rhayader and Llandrindod Wells attended alongside police officers and the Welsh Ambulance Service.

Around 40 minutes later, emergency services were called to a second collision nearby involving a police vehicle and a white Audi A1.

Two people were injured in the incident and were assisted from the vehicles by firefighters.

Among those injured was a police officer, who was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Dyfed-Powys Police said on Saturday that injuries sustained by those involved in both incidents were not believed to be life-threatening.

The A458 was closed while the vehicles were recovered and the road cleared, reopening at around 3pm on Saturday.
