Firefighters rescue person after crash near Berriew

The incident happened near Berriew shortly before 1pm on Saturday (April 3).

Crews from Montgomery and Llanfair Caereinion fire stations rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a single‑vehicle road traffic collision with a person trapped.

Montgomery Fire Station said: “Crew assisted in casualty care and the transportation of the casualty to the road ambulance due to difficult access.”

Later the same day, at 6.08pm, Montgomery firefighters were sent out again - this time to tackle a hedge fire that had spread to a domestic oil tank.

On arrival, the hedge and oil tank were already “well alight” and located close to several properties.

Firefighters used a hose reel jet and two sets of breathing apparatus to bring the fire under control, along with a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.

An environmental grab bag was also deployed to help prevent contamination and manage runoff from the incident.

No further details have been released regarding injuries or the cause of either incident.
