Anger as dog mess thrown into Powys town churchyard

Llanfair Caereinion Town Council has asked dog owners to be more responsible after dog mess was left both on the high street and thrown into the town's churchyard.

According to Llanfair Caereinion Town Council, the mess appears to have come from multiple animals with different owners, and concerns have been raised about the health implications of such behaviour.

The clerk for Llanfair Caereinion Town Council, Robert Robinson, put up a statement on the council’s social media feeds asking for dog owners to be more responsible about how they dispose of their animal’s mess.

He said: “Someone has allowed their dog to foul the footpath in the High Street along the churchyard wall. 

“It is two different dogs and the dogs are of a reasonable size.  Another has picked up their dog mess, put it in a bag and thrown it into the churchyard.

“Please can I ask that all who have dogs take responsibility for them and clear up.  It is not only unsociable it is not healthy.”

This is the second incident in the local area regarding dog mess after a “vindictive” individual smeared dog mess on the door handle of a business Llangadfan.

The incident which occurred on March 16 saw someone deliberately cover a door handle of the Banwy Badger Shed, a popular venue which sells both essentials and locally sourced produce.

 “To the person who purposely rubbed dog mess on the handle to the business - not only is it disgusting but also a health hazard,” the shop said.

“You are giving all dog owners a bad reputation. You will be found out, reported and banned from the premises permanently.”
