A village shop near Llanfair Caereinion has spoken of its disappointment after dog mess was deliberately smeared on its door handle.

The Banwy Badger Shed in Llangadfan, which sells essential items and locally sourced produce, said the act was carried out by a “vindictive member of our community”.

In a strongly worded message, the business described the incident as both “disgusting” and a serious health hazard.

“To the person who purposely rubbed dog mess on the handle to the business - not only is it disgusting but also a health hazard,” the shop said.

“You are giving all dog owners a bad reputation. You will be found out, reported and banned from the premises permanently.”

The shop also reminded customers that the bins outside the premises are not for dog waste, stressing that businesses pay significant fees for commercial waste removal and must ensure rubbish is correctly sorted to avoid fines.

“Please be considerate to small businesses and pay attention to signs,” the message added, urging dog owners to use Powys County Council’s designated dog waste bins instead.
