Livestock attack near Builth Wells leaves lambs dead

Officers from Dyfed-Powys Police’s Rural Crime Team say the incident happened in the Rhulen area between 8am and 4pm on Tuesday, March 10.

The lambs, aged between two and three weeks old, were found in an enclosed field with severe injuries, including bite wounds, open wounds and broken spines.

Police have reminded dog owners that livestock worrying is a criminal offence under the Dogs (Protection of Livestock) (Amendment) Act 1953. The offence covers any incident where a dog attacks or chases livestock, causing death, injury or suffering.

A spokesperson said such attacks not only threaten a farmer’s livelihood but also create dangerous situations for animals, particularly if they become distressed and stray onto roads.
