A Powys fuel supplier has urged customers not to panic buy after experiencing a sharp rise in enquiries for heating oil and fuel.
Banwy Fuels, based between Llanfair Caereinion and Welshpool, said demand has surged following recent developments in the Middle East, resulting in longer wait times and delivery lead times of up to one to two weeks in some areas.
“We have seen a significant increase in enquiries for heating oil and fuel following recent developments in the Middle East,” a spokesperson said.

“As a result, customers may experience longer wait times, and some areas are currently seeing delivery lead times of one to two weeks for heating oil.”
The company stressed that the UK Government has confirmed there are currently no reported impacts on national fuel supply, and it urged customers to order as normal.
“We kindly ask customers not to panic buy, but to be mindful that delivery times may be longer than usual due to increased demand,” the spokesperson added.
Banwy Fuels also said it is unable to fix prices at the point of order due to ongoing market volatility, explaining that wholesale prices are not confirmed until the day of purchase.

“We do not know what the wholesale price will be until the day of purchase, and therefore we are unable to price orders in advance,” the company said.
“Instead, we will contact you the day before delivery to confirm the price at that time, and you will have the option to proceed or cancel. This approach ensures you receive the most accurate and up‑to‑date price available for your order.”
The company thanked customers for their understanding and ongoing support.
