AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a supporter threw a plastic drinking vessel onto the pitch during Newtown's Welsh Blood Service League Cup win over Caersws.
The Robins' prevailed 1-0 winners in a bad-tempered derby which saw both teams end with 10 men as Tom Jones' late strike ensured a home win.

A Newtown Football Club statement read: "Following this weekend’s fixture between Newtown and Caersws, an incident occurred during the second half of the match in which a spectator positioned close to the pitch threw a plastic drinking vessel containing liquid onto the field of play.
"This matter is being treated with the utmost seriousness. An investigation is currently underway, and witness statements are being gathered in order to formally establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and to determine how and why it occurred.
"Further information will be communicated in due course upon completion of the evidence-gathering process and the conclusion of the investigation.”
