Illuminated tractor and 4x4 run raises over £10k in Pontfaen

The Pontfaen Young Farmers Club (YFC) Illuminated Charity Tractor and 4x4 Run, held on Tuesday, December 23, was described as "a huge success,"
raising funds for Wales Air Ambulance, The Brain Tumour Charity, and several other causes.

A Pontfaen YFC spokesman said: "What an incredible night once again.

"The effort, generosity, and community spirit shown by everyone involved was absolutely phenomenal.

"From the participants who decorated their tractors and 4x4s, to the spectators who lined the route cheering and clapping, the atmosphere was truly magical and captured the very best of the festive season.

"The award for Best Illuminated Vehicle was deservedly won by Darren and Deri Allsop, whose display impressed judges and spectators alike."

The total raised has surpassed £10,000, with further donations still being accepted via the event’s JustGiving page at pyfctractorrun2025.

The main beneficiaries are the Wales Air Ambulance Charity and The Brain Tumour Charity.

Additional donations include £500 each to the paediatric wards at Hereford, Carmarthen, and Merthyr Tydfil hospitals, as well as £500 to the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity.

A portion of the funds will also support the ongoing work of Pontfaen YFC in the community.

The club extended thanks to all who made the event possible, including McCartneys for the use of Brecon Livestock Market; stewards and marshals; Brecon High School for access to its hall and car park; and Brecon Town Band for providing festive music.

Special thanks were given to Father Christmas, who travelled the route handing out gifts to children, and to Brecon Town Council for covering the cost of Santa’s gifts and use of the high school.

The spokesman said: "A massive thank you to the participants, whose time, effort, and creativity in decorating their tractors and 4x4s is what makes this event so special - without you, it simply wouldn’t happen."

Thanks also went to sponsors, businesses, and individuals who supported the event through donations, raffle prizes, or help with organising.

Among those thanked were Cllr Marie Matthews for judging the Best Illuminated Vehicle competition, and Wynnstay Agriculture for sponsoring the £100 first prize.

Retailers including Morrisons, Tesco, and Castell Howell were also recognised for contributing refreshments.

The club said it looks forward to welcoming everyone back for the 2026 event.
