One person has died and another is in hospital with life threatening injuries following a serious head-on collision involving two vehicles near Welshpool.
An 18-year-old man was arrested by police on suspicion of causing the death of a driver by dangerous driving on the A483 at Pool Quay on Saturday (October 11).
The crash, which happened at around 6.50pm, involved a purple Volkswagen vehicle and a white Mini.
Dyfed-Powys Police has confirmed that the driver of the Mini died at the scene and that the next of kin has been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
One of the Volkswagen passengers remains in hospital after being airlifted with life threatening injuries.
A second passenger and the driver of the Volkswagen were also taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening, police added.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Newtown and Welshpool responded to a road traffic collision involving two motor vehicles that were involved in a head-on collision.
“The incident involved four casualties, sadly, one casualty died at the scene,” the emergency service said.
“This incident required a multi-agency response with Dyfed-Powys Police, the ambulance service and the air ambulance also in attendance.”
