I have just read, with great surprise, that Lloyds Bank is closing its Brecon branch early next year.
I returned to live in Brecon (having been born here) some four years ago and had banked with HSBC, Brecon branch, from the age of 18.
However, when HSBC closed its Brecon branch a short time ago, I transferred my business to Lloyds Bank.

I chose this bank because I was confident that the company was strong enough to maintain its Brecon branch. Whilst I do carry out online banking, I do like face to face contact if required and despise huge queues such as those which are regularly experienced at the post office.
I am therefore dismayed by the branch’s pending closure. Whenever I have been in there it has always been busy and regularly has a queue for till service. If anything, I would have said it was understaffed in relation to public demand.
It appears that everyone seems to want to work remotely or from home these days and that personal service is a thing of the past.
