Four people were arrested by police at a Welshpool pub, including two on suspicion of possessing class A drugs - but none will be hauled before the courts.

Dyfed Powys Police have confirmed that four people were arrested at the Wellington Inn, also known as The Welly, at Berriew Street on the evening of Saturday, August 31.

Police were at the pub as part of a larger operation clamping down on issues in North Powys, arresting a man and a woman on suspicion of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply.  

While the man has been issued with an out of court disposal income, Dyfed Powys Police confirmed that no further action will be taken against the woman.

On the same evening, police also issued an out of court disposal order to another man in relation to possessing class A drugs and another to a man relating to a court warrant.

A spokesperson for Dyfed Powys Police said: “On the evening of Saturday, August 31, police carried out an operation aimed at targeting antisocial behaviour, alcohol-related disorder, violent crime and drug use and distribution in North Powys.

“As part of their activity they attended The Wellington in Welshpool, where four people were arrested.

“A man and woman were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs. The man has been issued with an out of court disposal outcome, while no further action will be taken against the woman.

“Two further men were issued with out of court disposal orders – one for a matter relating to a court warrant, and another in relation to the possession of drugs.”
