AN Albanian man has denied cultivating cannabis in Welshpool, following a daytime raid in the town centre this week.
Alban Qemalli, 31, was arrested on Monday, September 2, and appeared at Wrexham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Speaking via an Albanian interpreter, Qemalli, whose address was given as Broad Street, Welshpool, entered a not guilty plea to one charge of being concerned in the production of cannabis.
Prosecutor Rachel Drew said the case was not suitable for summary trial.
Owain Jones, representing the defendant, made no application for bail and agreed that the case falls beyond the jurisdiction of the court.
The bench declined jurisdiction and told Qemalli he will be tried in the crown court.
He was remanded into custody and told he will appear at Mold Crown Court on October 4.
