A man who twice attacked his partner has been told by a judge that he will not be allowed to go back to Welshpool.
Nikrolay Nikolaev, 33, was expected to be sentenced on Thursday (August 29) for injuring his partner in an attack on July 23 and then a week later on July 30 while on bail for the first offence.
The Bulgarian national had already pleaded guilty to assault by beating and assaulting his victim by occasioning them actual bodily harm (ABH) when he appeared at Mold Crown Court on a video link from prison.
Judge Niclas Parry told Nikolaev that he needed evidence by Wednesday, September 4, that he has an address to go to before he is sentenced next week.

"You must not have any address in Welshpool because you will not be allowed to go back to Welshpool," he said.
"If there is no address, I can’t give a suspended sentence because no one will know where you are, and I couldn’t be satisfied there is a realistic prospect of rehabilitation but it’s worth a go for future partners."
The judge had raised concerns with Nikolaev’s barrister Ryan Rothwell that the defendant had "nowhere to go" and would "just reoffend like he did".
"It's his first taste of custody,” Judge Parry said. “It's a bad one and it clearly falls under two years [custody],"

Mr Rothwell told the court that his client "thinks there is somewhere to go" with friends in Wrexham.
"He's not going back to the area where this happened and he's not going to see the complainant again," Mr Rothwell said.
Nikolaev, of High Street, Welshpool, was told that he must remain at HMP Berwyn until the next sentencing hearing, which was fixed for Wednesday, September 4.
Nikolaev confirmed that he understood everything that the judge said before the hearing was adjourned.
