Machynlleth residents are being offered the opportunity to discover if their family keepsakes could be hidden treasures.

Experts from Halls Fine Art, a leading Shrewsbury-based auction house, will host an antique valuation event in the town's St Peter’s Church on Friday, August 30 from 10am to 2pm.

Specialists, Maryanne Lineker-Mobberley and Alexander Cleent will provide valuation services for a nominal fee of £2 per item, with all funds raised going towards the maintenance of St Peter’s Church.

The event will also have refreshments and bric-a-brac tables.

Ms Lineker-Mobberley said: "It has been a few years since we last held a valuation event in Machynlleth and can’t wait to see what’s in store for us.

"We have discovered a range of valuable items in this area and along the Mid Wales coast in the past year."

Guests considering having large antiques or collections valued are encouraged to bring along photographs, with specialists on hand to potentially schedule follow-up home visits.

For those unable to make it on the day, the Halls Fine Art team can be contacted for valuations.

Church warden Rachal Sear said: "We have enjoyed past antiques valuation events held by Halls Fine Art here in Machynlleth and are looking forward to welcoming the specialists to the church again on August 30.

"We hope the people of Machynlleth and surrounding area will take this opportunity to have their antiques valued and it would be great to find something very valuable on the day."
