Police are involved in a major river search relating to a missing person in Welshpool this evening, with the public being warned to avoid the area.
A post from Dyfed-Powys Police on social media has said the "multi-agency" search relates to a missing person.
The post said: "Officers are currently involved in a multi-agency search at the River Severn in Welshpool.
"A search is underway for a missing person, reported at just before 4.40pm.
"Members of the public are advised to stay away from the area."
The coastguard is also understood to be at the scene of the incident, off Leighton Road.
