WITH the 2024 Paris Olympics in full swing, one of Powys’ very own Olympians paid a visit to youngsters in Builth Wells this week.
Natalie Powell visited Builth Wells Sports Centre on Monday night, August 5, helping out youngsters at Irfon Judo Club, where it all began for the 33-year-old.
From Beulah, Natalie fought for Great Britain at both the 2016 and 2020 games, but injury robbed her of a third-straight appearance this year.
“Last night we had the incredible honour of welcoming Natalie Powell, a 2020 Olympic judo competitor, at our leisure centre,” said a post on the Builth Wells Sports Centre Facebook page.
“It was an inspiring experience to see her dedication, skill and passion for the sport up close.
Natalie shared some amazing techniques, motivational stories and impressive demonstrations to the members of Irfon Judo Club.
“Thank you Natalie for taking the time to visit us and inspire the members of our community.
We’re so proud to have had an Olympian in our midst.”
