THE eyes of Wales will be fixed on Meifod this week as the Urdd National Eisteddfod returns to Montgomeryshire for the first time in more than three decades.
No doubt all our readers will have seen the signs dotted around the county by now and many will be attending the celebration of Welsh language and culture.
Friendships are formed for life thanks to this wonderful event which does so much to preserve the culture and language of Wales and celebrated across the world by those with Welsh ancestry.
Indeed, we can expect the goings on in Meifod to be watched as far as Patagonia in Argentina.
The County Times has delved deep into its archive to 1988 when Newtown hosted the event.
