A NEW planning application has been submitted to Powys County Council for holiday lodges at a site on the outskirts of Llangurig and beside the A470 main road.
Rhys Jones, of RJ Jones and Co, wants to change the use of land to form an extension to an existing holiday lodge site at Felin Fawr, Llangurig.
The fresh application for four lodges and a septic tank was lodged with Powys County Council on May 8 - just a day after the previous application for six lodges was refused by planning officers using delegated powers on May 7.
The new proposal was validated on May 21 and would more than double the capacity of the site as three holiday lodges are already there after a previous planning application in 2019 was successful.

Planning agents Mathew Hamer, of Hamco Developments, said: “The proposal is for four one bedroom two person holiday lodges that has the typical holiday lodge appearance on agricultural land adjoining the existing enterprise at Felin Fawr.
“The site is very sustainable by being a short walk from the site to the local village of Llangurig.”
Mr Hamer explained that the proposal “constitutes” an extension to a rural enterprise and would “inevitably” help support other local businesses and increase tourism in the village and wider area.
The lodges will measure 10.3 metres by 4.26 metres and would be a mix of timber and metal clad untreated timber.
This is so that the lodges turn “silvery” and blends in with the landscape and the woodland in the surrounding area.

Mr Hamer said: “The proposed scheme is small, will fit into the surroundings without having a detrimental impact on the area.
“There is a proposed visibility distance of 215 metres in both directions along the A470 trunk road.
“This part of the road is double white lined, so overtaking is not possible.”
He added that if any entrance installed at the site, they will be more than 25 metres from the edge of the road.
The previous application for six lodges had been rejected by Powys planners due to concerns raised by Welsh Government highways officials during the consultation process.
Welsh Government highways officers issued a “holding direction” to the council that the six lodge scheme should not be granted planning permission “at this time.”
This is because the applicant had not supplied enough information.
They suggested that Mr Jones needed to clarify the depth and extent of any excavations for the lodge bases in order “to confirm” that they would have no impact on the highway embankment.
The applicants would also need to confirm that the land drains would be located “at least” six metres from the road.
So far, the Welsh Government have not commented on the new proposal.
A decision is expected by July 16.
