The iconic Lake Vyrnwy Hotel and Spa is up for sale for the first time in decades.

The hugely popular hotel is on the market for the first time since the 1980s in what agents Christie & Co called an “exceptional opportunity”.

The hotel was last bought by the Bisiker family in 1987, who are only the third owners of the hotel in its history.

In that time the hotel underwent some major refurbishments, and in 1995, they added eight large and luxurious bedrooms, as well as a conference and banqueting suite. But now the owners feel it is time to move on.

Current owner, Brian Bisiker said: “Whilst it is of course sad to be selling a business with which the family have been involved with for many years, now is the right time.

“The business is very well positioned for a new owner to further develop and enhance in this amazing location. Most importantly we would like to thank the staff, with whom we have shared this memorable journey, for their hard work and dedication over the years.”

Featuring 52-bedrooms and extensive function and spa facilities, Lake Vyrnwy Hotel & Spa has built a reputation “as one of the most pre-eminent hotels in Wales”.

Agents Christie & Co said: “The historic sporting hotel has simply breathtaking views and is ideally located close to Coed y Brenin Forest Park, the natural gateway to the Snowdonia National Park together with excellent transport access from most of the major conurbations.

“The hotel has been independently owned and operated by the same family for 37 years, who have been responsible for substantially upgrading the hotel facilities and expanding the range of services on offer to guests, significantly increasing and diversifying the hotel’s customer base.

“This iconic hotel is set in 30 acres above the beautiful and unspoilt Lake Vyrnwy and has considerable further development potential.”

Ed Bellfield, Regional Hotel Director at Christie & Co, who is handling the sale, added: “The sale of Lake Vyrnwy Hotel & Spa represents an exceptional opportunity to acquire a highly successful business with significant repeat patronage and high occupancy.

“The reputation and success of the business is testament to the continued re-investment and family stewardship over recent decades, combined with its enviable and iconic location on the banks of the Lake Vyrnwy.

“With so much further potential for a buyer, Lake Vyrnwy Hotel & Spa is very much one of those ‘must visit’ opportunities. We wish Brian well on his retirement and the closing of a long-established chapter.”

The hotel is being sold freehold off a guide price of £7,500,000.
