I live in Sarn and frequently travel to Montgomery, Churchstoke, Chirbury and Shrewsbury. The state of the roads is appalling.
As you drive towards Churchstoke the amount of potholes is just unbelievable. The road is just so dangerous to travel along as you have to pull out from the edge of the road to avoid going into a pothole, after the heavy rain that we have had its not always clear what is a puddle and what is a deep pothole.
Recently a member of my family was unable to avoid a pothole causing one of his tyres to split, luckily there was no other vehicle in close vicinity at the time otherwise consequences could have been worse.
OTHER NEWS:
- Powys teen needs home after extraordinarily rare conditions left him in a coma
- Duo to be sentenced next month for Powys supermarket and petrol station raid
- 100 acres of pastureland up for sale near the Powys border
Following that incident I tried to report the problem in the hope that something would be done about it. I rang Powys County Council and spoke to a very helpful lady and reported it. I also received a claim form from them for the tyre damage only to receive an email the next day to say that it wasn’t in their location but in Shropshire.
I rang Shropshire Council and after a long conversation with a lady (who wasn’t very helpful at all) was told that it wasn’t in Shropshire but in Powys.
At this point I gave up. Does anyone care about the state of our roads or will it take a serious accident before someone takes responsibility and fixes them?
