A company that has been based in Powys for more than 80 years has been taken over by a Finnish manufacturer.

Dawson Shanahan, which was established in 1943 in Welshpool and employs over 100 people, has now been acquired by Finnish company Luvata.

The company originally started out making parts for anti-lock braking systems on Lancaster bombers during the Second World War.

Since then, the company partnered with “almost every sector of industry, from automotive and motorsports to aviation, power distribution, electronics and medical”.

The company produces and globally distributes “fast, high-quality precision engineered components for a broad range of industries, including leading connector technology to power electric vehicles”.
