Two men remain on police bail more than four months after a young man suffered a head wound from what is believed to be an axe-type weapon in Newtown.

The incident is said to have happened in Park Lane, the same street as a primary school and the town's police station, at around 7.30pm on Friday, January 19.

A 22-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries and was later discharged.

Dyfed-Powys Police said at the time that two men, aged 29 and 34, were arrested on suspicion of assault.

The force added that investigating officers were not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.

On Tuesday, April 30, a Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson issued an update to confirm that the two men remain on conditional bail "while enquiries continue".
