A Powys man has appeared in court accused of intentionally strangling a woman and inflicting actual bodily harm (ABH) on her.

Jason Edwards, 41, of Llanidloes, must stay in prison while he waits for his plea and trial preparation hearing which will take place at the crown court in May.

Prosecutors allege that Edwards inflicted actual bodily harm on a woman between Thursday, April 18, and Sunday, April 21, and Wednesday, April 24.

He is also accused of then intentionally strangling the same victim on Thursday, April 25.

All three charges relate to incidents that allegedly took place in Llanidloes.

Edwards gave no pleas when he appeared before Llanelli Magistrates' Court on Friday, April 26.

Magistrates sent the case to Swansea Crown Court where it will be heard by a judge on Tuesday, May 28.

Edwards, of Gwaelod y Bryn, was remanded in custody until the next hearing.
