Fire crews were called to rescue a person from the River Severn in Newtown
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service along with the Welsh Ambulance service were called into action after a call yesterday (April 7) about a person in need of rescue from the River Severn.
Fire crews were called out first thing in the morning from Welshpool, Aberystwyth, Newtown and Montgomery to the incident, which took place near Canal Road.
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the person was rescued from the river and required medical assistance from the ambulance crews.

A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 7.35pm on Sunday, April 7, the Welshpool, Aberystwyth, Newtown and Montgomery crews were called to an incident along Canal Road, Newtown.
“Crews responded following reports of one casualty in a river, the casualty was removed from the river and crews assisted in administering first aid.
“The casualty was then put in the care of Ambulance Service personnel. Crews left the scene at 8.03pm.”
