Train passengers are being advised to check before travelling this morning (Saturday, April 6) after a vehicle collided with a bridge near Caersws.

Transport for Wales said train services running through Caersws station "may be cancelled or delayed" while the Cambrian line is blocked.

Disruption is expected to last until 9.30am this morning.

Transport for Wales said the 7.29am journey from Aberystwyth due in at Birmingham International station at 10.52am was terminated at Machynlleth.

The train that left Birmingham International station at 8.08am and was due to arrive in Aberystwyth at 11.21am will now no longer call at stations beyond Shrewsbury. However an extra train service has been planned to leave Machynlleth at 10.50am and arrive in Aberystwyth at 11.21am.

A train travelling from Shrewsbury will be starting later than its scheduled departure time of 10.29am. The train is expected to stop at every station along the way to Aberystwyth due at 12.21pm.

Transport for Wales added: "If you have experienced a delay or cancellation, please contact our customer relations team or pick up a form from your nearest ticket office. You can email us using: customer.relations@tfwrail.wales".
