WELCOME to another dose of nostalgia courtesy of the County Times.
Today we venture all the way back to the 1960s when legendary County Times snapper Don ‘The Flash’ Griffiths was a regular sight up and down the county.
We begin with a team picture of Newtown Cricket Club players in 1964 – the year the Forth Road Bridge opened, Mary Poppins hit cinemas, and the Warren Commission released its report into the death of JFK.
OTHER NEWS:
- Newtown sisters raise thousands for charity at their weddings for their late mum
- Powys woman told to pay compensation after stealing vodka bottles from Spar shop
- Plans revealed to renovate Powys site thought to be Wales' first parliament
Our next picture is also from 1964 and shows members of Welshpool and District Motor Club with an Austin Healey Sprite.
Some legends of Llanidloes feature in our next picture which shows people from the town on their way to a Welsh hymn festival called Gymanfa Ganu.
Next we share a picture of members of Llandinam WI at a meeting in 1964.
Our final picture is of the 1964 Llanidloes Area Primary School Sports Day. No doubt there are some recognisable figures among those pictured here.
