A police cordon has been set up around a Newtown town centre bank while officers investigate a burglary that happened during the early hours of Friday morning (March 22).

Officers put the tape up outside the Santander bank in High Street while investigation work takes place.

The burglary happened sometime between 1.13am and 1.20am where the ATM was attacked from inside the bank.

Dyfed-Powys Police said the scale of the theft is being determined.

Officers remain at the scene and are carrying out house-to-house, CCTV, and other ongoing enquiries.
